Doing Business in a Hotter, Scarcer, More Open World

 It’s a sign of change in the U.S.’s business landscape when a company as “mainstream” as Walmart is considered to be a global renewable energy leader. The company has an aspirational goal to draw 100% of its power supplies from renewable energy. While the goal has no target deadline, Walmart is nonetheless the largest onsite renewables user in the U.S., and continues to make progress toward its goal.

What does renewable energy do for Walmart? Andrew Winston has the answer, and it has to do in part with extreme weather events such as Hurricane Sandy, which are becoming less of a rarity, and have the power to knock out power grids for days.
