Putting Dartmouth in Context

In a personal essay published in The Dartmouth, Hannah Petrone ’17 reflects on an relationship she built as a result of Professor Terry Osborne’s ENVS 7 class, COVER Stories. Hannah writes:

“The class is centered on the notion that activism ‘succeeds best when activists work in deliberate partnership with human communities. Students can apply their theoretical readings of social and environmental justice through the class’s partnership with COVER Home Repair, which strives to bridge the gap between service and community.”

For a class assignment, Hannah interviewed an 81-year-old Lebanon, NH resident named Beverly. The two women formed a friendship that has endured long past the end of the term and helped shape Hannah’s view of Dartmouth and the world. The full essay can be found at The Dartmouth.
