Jean Charest, the former Premier of Québec, Minister of the Environment, and Deputy Prime Minister of Canada, will be visiting Dartmouth on April 11th, 2024 from 5 PM to 6 PM. Join us in Hinman Forum for a conversation on how conservatives can find strong and bi-partisan solutions to climate change, how the U.S. and Canada can work closely on climate legislation, and what the United States can learn from Canada on climate policy. The program will include time for audience Q&A.

Jean Charest is regarded as one of the pre-eminent figures in Canadian politics, having led the national conservatives, the Progressive Conservative Party, during a crucial time in Canadian history in the 1990s and was the leader of the federalist Liberal Party of Québec, leading the movement to ensure the province remained in Canada. He also served as Minister of the Environment of Canada in the government scholars regard as the most effective on climate policy. The event will be hosted by the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Public Policy and the Social Sciences and the American Conservation Coalition.
