Assistant Professor – Agroecology

The Environmental Studies Program at Dartmouth seeks applicants for a tenure-track assistant professorship in the field of agroecology. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in ecological science and its applications in the area of sustainable agriculture. In addition, the ideal candidate will take an interdisciplinary approach that engages with the social, economic, and governance dimensions of food systems. We seek a colleague whose research and classroom teaching employ field- and lab-based methods to examine topics such as the role of ecological practices in improving soil health, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and conserving biodiversity; the development of integrated food and energy systems; and the landscape-scale interactions of farming with forest and watershed conservation. Faculty in Environmental Studies participate in Dartmouth's Ph.D. program in Ecology, Evolution, Ecosystems and Society. Candidates who can take advantage of teaching and research opportunities at the Dartmouth Organic Farm and Environmental Studies Foreign Study Program in Southern Africa are especially encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. in the environmental sciences, ecology, or a related field is required. Applicants may be ABD but must have a Ph.D. by the appointment start date. Candidates who connect their work to the social sciences and policy will receive special consideration.
