I study the social, economic, and ecological conditions that prompt, enable, or deter agroecological transitions for practitioners. I am interested in the patterns and scale of ecological changes in agricultural production following transitions to new systems, and how past biological, structural, and social legacies interact with systems of agriculture that newly integrate woody species.
